As we enter the final year of the Stronger Truer Sewanee campaign, it is important to reflect on what has been accomplished and what remains to be done. The campaign has raised over $240 million toward its $250 million goal. We are almost there. And with your help, we will reach and even exceed that goal.
Stronger Truer Sewanee is raising resources that ensure access, value, and opportunity for all students through an expansion of financial aid resources and by increasing funding for career-shaping internships.
So far, over $58 million has been raised for these campaign priorities. The generosity of alumni, families, and friends has had an immediate and lasting impact on Sewanee students, but more support is required to meet our students' needs.
Over $50 million in new scholarship support has been raised, including nearly $37 million in new endowment. Because we are a tuition-dependent institution, financial aid remains one of the top needs of the University as we try to build a stronger Sewanee, providing access to all who would thrive here, value in terms of educational excellence, and opportunity in terms of lifelong connections and life-shaping experiences. With these new resources, we are in a much stronger position today than we were at the beginning of the campaign.
Projects needing continued support:
Continued participation in the spendable Cornerstone Scholarship and Internship program for impact on students’ lives right now. The Cornerstone program has been successful in engaging donors and connecting them with students. To maintain the impact this program makes requires annual commitments and ongoing engagement in work where the connection between the student and donor is strong, and the impact of the gift is transparent.
If you are interested in a gift that goes beyond current-use dollars, named endowed internship funds begin at the $100,000 level. Named endowed scholarship funds begin at the $150,000 level for the College and $75,000 for the School of Theology.
