University of the South teams and individuals earned several victories and awards over the weekend.

The Sewanee field hockey team won matches on Friday and Sunday. Senior captain Emma Horgan has been named the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Offensive Player of the Week, and senior captain Janie Spilman has been named the SAA Defensive Player of the Week. The league announced both honors on Monday.

The Sewanee women's golf team made history Monday by winning both the team and individual titles at the Huntingdon Intercollegiate at the Montgomery Country Club. It was the first time in program history that the Tigers have won a team tournament in women's golf. Individually, senior Emily Javadi led wire-to-wire to win by 16 strokes, and four members of Sewanee’s team finished in the top 10.

The Sewanee equestrian team had an outstanding opening show over the weekend at the Howell Riding Center and Barn. The team was named the Reserve Champion, and Kimberly Williams and Mary Marshall Farris both qualified for the IHSA Regionals.

In men’s tennis, senior Eric Roddy and freshman Jack Gray won the prestigious ITA Atlantic South Regional doubles championship Sunday in Murfreesboro. With the win, Roddy and Gray automatically become 2015-16 ITA All-Americans.
