Music and literature flourish during the summer

Readings, lectures, and musical performances will abound on the Sewanee campus this summer as the School of Letters, Sewanee Summer Music Festival, and Sewanee Writers’ Conference are in session.

Every summer the School of Letters invites writers, poets, publishers and scholars to speak each week that school is in session (June 4-July 14). Readings and lectures generally take place in Gailor Auditorium, and the public is welcome.

The Sewanee Writers’ Conference will run from July 18-30, and will feature readings, panels, and lectures by the National Book Award winners, best-selling and critically acclaimed fiction writers, and award-winning poets who make up the distinguished faculty.

The Sewanee Summer Music Festival (June 17-July 16) is one of the nation's premier orchestra and chamber music training programs. Performances include Sunday afternoon concerts by two student orchestras and a series of faculty chamber music concerts.
