Homecoming Questions

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why should I register? What do my Homecoming & Reunion registration fees cover?
Throughout the weekend, registered guests can participate in most of the activities on the entire schedule. The registration fees help cover the expenses incurred for all of the events. Specifically, when you arrive at the registration tent, you will receive a packet with nametags that allow you entry into most events along with a complete schedule and football tickets. For reunion classes, each reunion event includes heavy hors d’oeuvres and full open bars. Music is provided at many events and there are two all alumni dance parties. Some of the most popular events that are included in your registration fees are: the Alumni Awards Breakfast, pre-game lunch, post-game BBQ and Blue Grass, the Alumni Dance, the alumni-faculty reception, educational offerings, and sightseeing tours of campus.  When you register, you help the Alumni staff plan for the right number of guests, plus we can let others know you are here on the Mountain.

How can I find out who will be attending my reunion?
Log on to this website to see who has registered: http://ur.sewanee.edu/hc/whoscoming . Make sure you register so your name will be included. (updated beginning September 15)

What should I wear during the weekend?
Casual dress is appropriate for most daily activities and dining establishments. At the reunion parties and awards breakfast, most men wear a jacket and tie. Please feel free to dress in what is most comfortable for you.

It’s not my reunion, so will there be something for me to do?
Even though you will not have individual class parties during the weekend, many, many events on the entire schedule are enjoyed each year by alumni not celebrating a reunion. Your registration fees are reduced since your class will not have special events.

Can I bring my children to the events?
Children are welcome to the activities scheduled during the day. At night, there is childcare available for children ages 2 to 10 through the University Childcare Center (reservations are required). The Alumni Office can also provide you with a list of local baby sitters.

What can I expect at my Class Party?
Is it dinner or should I make dinner plans elsewhere? At the class reunion parties, your registration fee covers the full open bar and heavy hors d’oeuvres. Most people are able to make a meal out of this, but others enjoy getting together at a restaurant later for dinner. For the milestone reunions (C’58 and C’83), the Saturday night event is a dinner rather than hors d’oeuvres.
